Committees
Culture Working Group:
This committee is focused on advocating about how society and culture impact mental health, and providing aid where able. Current initiatives include planning media campaigns, compiling accessible resources, and planning group-based events.
Education Working Group:
The education committee is focused on informing individuals who are passionate about mental health and wellness through interactive and engaging mediums. The group is focused on organizing and facilitating mental health and wellness education workshops and producing a mental health and wellness podcast.
Grant-Writing Committee:
This group focuses on supporting the organization's projects and events by outsourcing and applying for grants that we are eligible for.
Journalist Committee:
This committee addresses mental wellness diversity through writing. To further achieve our goal, we address a variety of mental health topics in the form of monthly themes. All journalists are encouraged to share personal experiences, opinions, and more based on our themes.
Research Journalist Committee:
Research journalists focus on summarizing and disseminating information from peer-reviewed published studies. By doing so, research journalists make research on mental health topics more accessible to the public.
Leaders of Wellness Working Group (Mentorship and Engagement):
This committee is focused on planning the Leaders of Wellness program which is focused on mental health de-stigmatization within youth and, more specifically, highschool students in the great community. The goal of the program is to facilitate a mentee/mentor relationship between high school students in order to create positive relations and mental health leaders within the community.
Media and Marketing Committee:
This committee is focused on advocating for mental wellness awareness across our social media platforms and website. Our current projects include creating social media campaigns for mental health awareness and tips, promoting The Wellness Proposal events, and publishing research from other internal committees.
PUMMP Working Group (Mentorship and Engagement):
This committee focuses on the planning and operations of the Prospective Undergraduate Mentor/Mentee Program (PUMMP) Revamped. While our program aims to support first and second year UBC students in their transition to in-person university, mental health upkeep and community-building are also the core objectives of PUMMP.
Social Events Committee:
The Social Events Committee focuses on building opportunities to increase engagement within the executive team of The Wellness Proposal, as well as giving volunteers the chance to meet each other through fun, unique events.
